Memory Wall

One of my favourite Canadian Ad agency Rethink, yet again created a very cool ambient ad. It's for the Alzheimer's Society of BC's Annual Walk for Memories.

A 30-foot panel wall is covered with sticky notes (a symbols of memory) arranged to form the word 'Remember'. Each sticky notes carried a printed reminder to participant in the annual event. This interactive display can be picked apart by passerby, who are allowed to peel off Post-its, as a lasting reminder; symbolic of the memory loss experienced by Alzheimer's sufferers. Very Cool idea, eh?

You can check out the video of the event here.

'Perfect' songs

Here's 2 songs I really like which just happens to have the word 'Perfect' in the title:
Pink's recent single, "F**kin' Perfect" and Hedley's "Perfect" (very cool video). Enjoy.

Yorkdale's Expansion

Didn't it feel like Yorkdale just finished a big expansion? I guess they're not done yet. Yorkdale just announced that they will be doing a $220 million dollar expansion adding 145,000 square ft of new retail space. Expansion overview:

• 40 new retails!
(which they referred to as "first to market", I really want to know which retail. I already heard that they will be getting J.Crew.)
• new third level food court, doubling the seating capacity
• new restaurants
• over 800 new underground parking spaces

Seeing how being green is so popular, Yorkdale will be including that into their expansion. The new food court will reduce waste by 85% with resusable plates and cutlery. Also they will be adding a 65,000 square foot green roof to reduce atmospheric heating.

Construction has already begun and will be expected to finish in late 2012. I'm really looking forward to seeing it when it's all finish --- Very exciting!! : )

Mini Cooper Countryman

I am super excited about the Mini Cooper Countryman!! (not too crazy about the name - countryman??) Finally, a 4-door Mini! I'm a big fan of the mini, love the look/design, the brand and pretty much all the marketing stuff done for the Mini. When it was first available in Canada (early 2000), I always wished that one day they would create one with 4 doors - I guess they heard me : ) It is now available! Time to go for a test drive : )

I will have to go look it up more and see what it has to offer. Here are some pics and commercials created to promote the Mini Cooper Countryman - very cool and funny. More posts about the Countryman to come, for sure......

These 15 seconds commercials are so much fun!

They will be opening four this year, 3 of them in the Greater Toronto Area:

Late March in Heartland Town Centre In Mississauga.
Mid-April in Bramalea City Centre
Late May in Vaughan Mills
Early May in Crosslron Mills, in Rocky View, Just north of Calgary

I'm looking forward to the stand-alone stores, curious how they will do the layout and merchandising. Hopefully they will carry more men's stuff!!

My thoughts on The Green Hornet

The main reason I went to watch The Green Hornet was because of the very popular Asian signer, Jay Chou. You know, I gotta go support - Asian actors  : )

I wasn't expecting too much but surprisingly I enjoyed the movie. It was well-paced, had some good action sequences, some funny moments and overall, quite entertaining. The chemistry between Seth Rogen and Jay Chou's character was pretty good. Even though, sometimes I did find it hard making out what Jay Chou was saying. But overall, I thought he did an okay job. ( I do prefer him more as a singer) The characters Seth and Jay played was very fun and like-able. I would have love to be their friends!

Stay a little bit for the end credits, some pretty cool graphic used. Which I thought should really have been shown during the opening credits, oh well .......... here are some posters created for the movie.

Cartoon Character Eye Chart

I know it's Monday, but let's have some fun. Check out this cool eye chart designed by Jaleesa Scotland!! How well do you know your cartoon characters?? Have fun! But just incase, here are the answers.

Movie poster: The Mechanic

Check out this teaser poster for The Mechanic, starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster. (Just so you know, I am not a fan of guns) But I do like the look/style and how nicely designed this poster is. I love the bright orange colour on the black background and the simplicity of using small gun-shapes silhouettes to make a large gun just turned out so great! Now, I wonder if the movie will be any good.

Winter fun!

We've been getting quite a bit of snow in Toronto these couple of days. What better way to deal with it than going tobogganing - which I haven't done in a very long time! We headed over to a small hill near my sister and bro-in-law's place. We had a blast and felt like kids again - can't wait when I can take my nephew. And what a beautiful late afternoon it was - check out the sunset, and yes, that's me. Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend.

Ugg & Jimmy Choo & Tom Brady

Jimmy Choo, a famous women shoes designer and Ugg, the very popular Sheepskin boots have worked together and came up with a limited edition collection.  The two well known brand created not only functional boots, but also works of art.
Both company said: The capsule collection is based on the iconic UGG Australia sheepskin boot construction with design details that embody the spirit of  the Jimmy Choo brand.
The prices range from $595 to $795. Here are some of the style. You can check out the rest of the Capsule collection at Jimmy Choo's website. What do you guys think of them?

Since we're on the topic of Ugg's..... not sure if you know, they're not only for the ladies. There are men's style and more men are wearing them. FYI- I'm looking for a pair too!! The classic short style in the tan colour, size 9.5 as seen in this picture. I'm keeping my eyes open for the best price.

Tom Brady, the new face of Men's Ugg

And to attract the men to the UGG brand, they had announced in late 2010 that they will be partnering with NFL superstar Tom Brady of the New England Patriots to launch it's very first men's marketing initiative. The collaboration will includes Brady's casual footwear, select outer wear and accessories.  The marketing campaign will launch in the Fall of 2011. I can't wait for that.

Wish me luck on my hunting for my pair : )

Target coming to Canada!

It's about time! Just announced, Target is finally coming to Canada. Target offers a wide assortment of unique, high-quality merchandise at exceptional values. Their tagline says it all: "Expert More Pay Less". I guess it's really similar to Walmart, but way cooler : )

Target has agreed to buy leases for 220 Zellers retail sites for $1.82 billion. It is expected its first stores in Canada by 2013. Still so far away, I can't wait. I've always liked how Target market and brand it self. They can do so much with the target icon. I included some of their past advertisements below.

FYI- it's me who added in the Canadian Maple leaf : )

H&M Home Spring 2011 Collection

I love H&M and who knew? They now offers a Home line - very cool!! Too bad, it's not available in Canada. Only in selected stores (Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Helsinki, London and Stockholm) and online in selected markets early March 2011.
