Fashion's Night Out - Toronto!

So great to hear that Toronto is finally getting its very own Fashion's Night Out - happening this Thursday September 6 from 6pm - 11pm.

After hearing about it happening for the past couple years in New York City - which btw was started up by American Vogue 4 years ago to boost the economy. I am looking forward to checking out this event - a night of shopping and parties!

On September 6, from 6pm-11pm, fashionable neighbourhoods/malls such as Yorkville, Queen Street, Holt Renfrew, Eaton Centre and Yorkdale will all be having special events to celebrate. For a list of retailer participating and what's happening, you can check out their website here.

There will also be a special FNO Collection of merchandise - T-shirts and tote bags! FYI- I would love to get one of those T-shirt!! Also check out the FNO PSA - so many celebrities!

My Versace for H&M Shopping Experience

Not sure if anyone else went to the Versace for H&M today but I was there! Yeah, I was one of those 'crazy fashion people', but I don't think I am 'that crazy' like some who set up tents and waited over night.

I went to the Yorkdale location. I was there around 6:30 am (the store opens at 8 am). For some reason, we had to wait outside the mall. I was told that there was about 150 people inside lining up already. Good thing it wasn't too cold and that it was only for about 20 mins, we then got to go in and joined the line up. It was pretty organized, so that was a good thing.

In the line, we were then given wrist band (only if you were shopping the women's collection) with our shopping time slot along with a shopping instruction. Even though I wasn't shopping the women's collection, I still had to get one.

Since I was only shopping the men's collection, I got myself into the store at around 8:15am. It was a bit hectic, but lots of security all around to keep things under control - you know how us, crazy shoppers can get - lol. Unlike last year, during the Lavin collection, posters were knocked down and people were undressing the mannequins.

Overall, I was happy with my Versace shopping experience : ) Got most of the stuff that I wanted plus more! Good thing there's a 14 days return policy, since I'm thinking of bringing back some of those 'impluse/changed my mind' buys.

For those whose interesting in owning some Versace, let me know asap. The items I will be returning are: t-shirt (Small), pair of black tailored trouser (waist 32R), and a pair of black leather shoes (size 9)

Yorkdale's Expansion

Didn't it feel like Yorkdale just finished a big expansion? I guess they're not done yet. Yorkdale just announced that they will be doing a $220 million dollar expansion adding 145,000 square ft of new retail space. Expansion overview:

• 40 new retails! 

(which they referred to as "first to market", I really want to know which retail. I already heard that they will be getting J.Crew.)

• new third level food court, doubling the seating capacity

• new restaurants

• over 800 new underground parking spaces

Seeing how being green is so popular, Yorkdale will be including that into their expansion. The new food court will reduce waste by 85% with resusable plates and cutlery. Also they will be adding a 65,000 square foot green roof to reduce atmospheric heating.

Construction has already begun and will be expected to finish in late 2012. I'm really looking forward to seeing it when it's all finish --- Very exciting!! : )
