Don't Let Fashion go to Waste

Yesterday was Earth Day, hope everyone did their part to celebrate our planet we call Earth. And hopefully it won't stop and that you will continue to help out the environment everyday.

One way you might not had thought about is that your unwanted clothes can do more than you think. One of my favourite retail store H&M started an initiative to collect clothes in their stores. It started about a month ago, and is part of its Conscious actions - For a more sustainable fashion future.

I really like the idea. Plus, you get rewarded when you bring in your unwanted clothes to H&M stores. You get one voucher for $5 off your purchase of $30 or more for each of bag clothing you donate.

If you've got something worn, torn or out of style, don't throw it away or let it pile up in the back of your closet. Bring them in, and help decrease the amount of fashion being wasted. Your clothes are then sent to the nearest processing plant. The clothes are then graded and hand-sorted. Items that are too worn or torn to be reused will be recycled and turned into raw materials and new products.

An interesting facts: Every year, tons of textiles end up in landfills. But as much as 95% of these textiles and clothes could be used again.

So, start digging through your closet and see how much you can donate. Look out for the drop off 'Long Live Fashion' box by the cash in the store. For more info about this great initiative and how it works, you can go here.

While you're at the store, make sure to check out their Conscious Collection plus there are many items that are made from recycled materials ie. 100% organic cotton. Look out for a H&M Conscious* tag on those items. Long live fashion!

Earth Day - Tote Bag Giveaway!

Earth Day is tomorrow, April 22. I always try to do my best to help out the environment. One small way is to cut down on plastic bags and use re-useable tote bags.

NIke Free 5.0 Commercial

Just saw this latest ad commercial the other night from Nike. It was for Nike Free 5.0. I thought it was a fun and different way to show the flexibility of the product. I like it and it put a smile on my face after viewing. Plus they look pretty cool too! Love the colours.

With the lines 'Ultimate Flexibility' at the end of the ad and 'For your everyday barefoot-like feel' on their website,  I guess I better go give it a try to see if that's true : )

Joe Fresh and those 'Bom Bom' Commercials

I'm loving the latest Spring 2013 commercials from Joe Fresh. I love the simplicity and of course that catchy song. It just puts me in a fun mood and makes me want to move/dance : ) Also, loving all the bright colours!

If you're a fan of Diesel, I'm sure you heard the big news that was announced a few days ago. Nicola Formichetti has been announced as the Artistic Director for Diesel!

Maison Martin Margiela X Casio G-Shock Watch

I love G-Shock watches and this one just look sooooo cool! Maybe because it's a rare collaboration with the avant-garde fashion house Maison Martin Margiela. Based on the Casio G-Shock GA-300 model, it features a silver-grey minimalist casing - similar to Margiela's overall design sensibility. The watch includes a removable mirrored silver leather band along with a polished silver casing/bracelet.

Limited to only 3000 units worldwide, this collaboration was also part of celebrating G-Shock's 30th anniversary. Check out this highly stylistic video that was made in part of the release. You guys like?
