IN FLUX: A One Night Only Experience by DX + RSID - Ticket Giveaway!

I'm a fan of the Design Exchange. DX is not only a neat place to visit but they always organizes the coolest social events. Their latest is IN FLUX: a one night only experience by DX + RSID.

It's an artful mash-up of design and science for one night only on Friday, July 15, where Ryerson University's School of Interior Design, led by RSID assistant professor Jonathon Anderson, mount sculptural and immersive digitally-fabricated installations.

Check out how 81 handcrafted blocks can be arranged 43 million different ways, experience mind-bending projects inspired by Morie pattern and dazzle camouflage, and be awed by an of-the-wall work inspired by Callophrys rubi, a tiny butterfly.

Not only that, there will be complimentary drinks from Ace Hill beer and delicious snacks from Marigold and Onion - including ice cream! Plus a DJ who will be spinning some fresh beats! Come out and and mingle with the city's next crop of celebrated creators!!

Working Out with Gaiam

 

I'm a pretty active guy. I go to the gym about 3-4 times a week. Not only do I go play badminton, I also do some weights and occasionally go for a swim/run. I actually participated in the Sportinglife 10K run last month. It was my third 10K run and I finished with a personal best time of 45mins!

This Father's Day, Go Ask Dad

Father's day is just around the corner. I wanted to share with you this video. There are mostly videos out there about mothers, however thanks to the people from Gillette, here's a great one just in time for Father's day.

This Father's Day, Gillette is reminding people everywhere to "Go Ask Dad" for answers to their everyday questions. While your Dad will certainly appreciate a card (a new Gillette razor or maybe even one of my Hello Stuff ties) for Father's Day, taking a moment to ask his advice will mean more to him than you might guess.

Hello Stuff Ties

In a world where screen-time often outweighs actual face time, the internet has become the go-to source of information. Teens are turning to the internet for answers to their every question. In this video, real teens and their father's participate in the "Go Ask Dad" experiment. In the end, they come to an important realization: while the internet may "know all", it turns out that Dad may actually "know best."

Taste of Toronto - June 23-26

Attention all food lovers - Taste of Toronto is coming up very soon. Mark your calendar: June 23-26 at the Garrison Common Fort York. Some of Toronto's most respected restaurants and chefs will gather for the third annual Taste of Toronto! (Note: Pics here are taken by me from last year )

This premier food festival will keep foodies busy with hands-on cooking classes with the city's best chefs, live demonstrations/entertainment, a lively marketplace and of course, tasting the finest flavours and cuisine that Toronto has to offer. There's something for everyone!

There will be over more than 50 mouth-watering signature dishes from over 20 of the hottest chefs and shop from more than 60 artisan producers and premium brands!

Some of the new restaurants joining this year's line up is Miku, Nota Bene, Mamakas, Alo, Piano Piano, Antler, Kanpai, and Carver. Some of the returning favourites includes McEwan Group, Richmond Station, The Drake Hotel and Los Colibris. The adidas NMD_R1

First launched in Dec. 2015, the original adidas NMD Runner PK.

FYI, no sneaker is hotter right now than these - launched under the adidas Originals, it called the NMD, a new silhouette which uses two of adidas most popular technologies - Primeknit and Boost. The NMD is not really for running or basketball, but for traveling the streets on a daily basis.

The NMD_R1 Runner looks like it have been sent from the future. At first glance the sneaker has a Primeknit, sock-like upper and a Boost sole. But if you look closer, you'll notice classic 80s-era adidas design elements like the colourblocked panels on the midsole.

The NMD runner connect the past and the future. The adidas Micro Pacer, Rising Star and Boston Super are all referenced in the design.

What does the acronym NMD even means? According to adidas Original VP, "We started talking about what does 'new' mean, both in terms of design and how we live our lives. We kicked around a lot of thoughts on new modern design and the new nomadic traveler, but we didn't want to give a name that was too descriptive." As the shoes defies traditional categorization - blending technical running elements within a lifestyle product - the team decided to keep the name in code form.

I'm really loving the NMD R1! They're super popular right now - line ups and selling out the day they drop. Sweats are the best, am I right? And that was what I wore this past weekend. I picked up this sweat top from Adidas. It's super soft & comfy plus I just loved the blue. A great colour for spring - speaking of Spring, where are you? I paired it with a pair of sweat joggers and Adidas Superstar sneakers. A very casual look, perfect for the weekend!

Canada's destination for all things handmade comes to Toronto this Easter weekend to showcase the best makers from across the country.
